Mary Tantillo, Ph.D. is the director of Unity's Eating Disorders Program and the Eating Disorders Recovery Center (EDRC) of Western New York, one of three New York State Department of Health Comprehensive Care Centers. Dr. Tantillo is a clinical associate professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry and serves as co-chair of the Rochester Eating Disorders Community Advisory Board. She is a fellow of the Academy for Eating Disorders, a certified group psychotherapist, and member of the American Group Psychotherapy Association. Dr. Tantillo has her doctoral degree in nursing and has worked with patients with eating disorders for over 20 years. She provides consultation for eating disordered patients and families seen throughout Unity Health System, as well as those served in the community by Sage House and St. Joseph's Villa. She provides direct care for patients and families in the outpatient and partial hospitalization components of the Eating Disorders Program. Dr. Tantillo has special interests in the areas of women's mental health, group treatment, and especially group treatment for eating disorders. Her teaching, research, and publications emphasize the application of Relational/Cultural Theory in the understanding and treatment of eating disorders.
