Eric Kirchner was appointed our Chief Executive Officer in January 2009. He has 27 years of experience in the transportation and logistics industry, serving most recently as President of Freight Forwarding in UPS’s Supply Chain Solutions division for their global freight forwarding business. Prior to that, he was President North American Forwarding and President Global Transportation Services, and served as co-integration manager and member of the UPS integration steering committee which facilitated the transition of Menlo Worldwide Forwarding. Eric came to UPS in 2004 through their acquisition of Menlo (former Emery Worldwide), where he held various executive positions up to Chief Operating Officer. During his career, Eric has directed transportation and commercial air and ocean carrier relationships and has also managed contract logistics operations. His roles in operations, sales and marketing, as well as general management, reflect his extensive experience in managing global customer relationships and overseeing acquisition integration and business process transformation. Eric holds a Bachelor’s degree from Indiana University and has completed the Stanford Executive Program at Stanford University.

Brian Dangerfield is President, Asia Pacific for UTi Worldwide. Prior to that, he was UTi Worldwide’s President of Solutions Delivery for Asia Pacific. He has also served as our Executive Vice President – Northeast Asia and Indian Subcontinent. Before joining UTi, Rodney was Executive Vice President – Northeast Asia and Managing Director – Hong Kong and China for Union-Transport Asia Pacific Ltd., one of UTi’s subsidiaries. He received a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Auckland University and is an associate chartered accountant in New Zealand.
Carlos Escario is President, EMENA for UTi Worldwide. Previously, he served as Senior Vice President, Planning and Strategy Execution and President of Client Solutions for our EMENA (Europe, Middle East and North Africa) Region. Carlos joined UTi in February 2002 as Vice President and Managing Director of Grupo SLi when our company acquired the Madrid-based contract logistics company, which he co-founded in 1991. Previously, Carlos served as the Managing Director of TACISA Group of Companies. Carlos’ experience also includes serving as a Lieutenant in the Supply Corps for the Spanish Navy and being a licensed customs broker. He has lectured in different forums, including SAP Business Forum, Spanish universities and logistic-related associations, and has served as a trainer in different programs related to human resources development, leadership, psychology, communication, and motivation. Carlos received a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Universidad Complutense de Madrid and a Masters of Business Administration from the Instituto de Estudios Superiores de la Empresa of Barcelona, a branch of the University of Navarra.
Chris Dale was promoted to the position of President, Americas Freight Forwarding in May 2006. Prior to that, he served as Chief Operating Officer for UTi’s U.S. operations. Before that, Chris served in a dual capacity as Vice President, Marketing and Sales for the Americas Region and Western Regional Vice President. Chris was with Schenker, Inc., a logistics services provider, as Executive Vice President, Marketing and Sales, and later as Chief Operating Officer for their U.S. organization. He also served as Vice President, Marketing and Sales - North America at Danzas Corporation, now a part of DHL. Chris has held various management positions within Circle, Inc., including branch management, regional management and corporate product development. He also worked with Panalpina from 1980 to 1988 in various sales and operational capacities in the United States and Europe.
David Cheng was promoted to President of Greater China in 2007, gaining increasing responsibilities for overall leadership and management of the entire Greater China region. Prior to that, he was the owner of Continental Air Express (HK) Limited (CAE) since 1972. David has a wealth of experience in the freight forwarding industry with total of 47 years in the industry handling freight businesses, including but not limited to the U.S., Asia Pacific and Greater China trade lanes. He also served as Vice President and Chairman of the Hong Kong and China regions when CAE merged with UTi. David is a member of the Shanghai Municipal Committee of the CPPCC (Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference), and was awarded with honors from the Shanghai Government. He is also an Expert of the Shanghai Navigation Association and honorable President of Shanghai Overseas Chinese Chamber of Commerce ("SOCCC"), Hongkou Branch. David is a member of the Yunfu City of Guangdong Provincial Committee of the CPPCC in the Southern region of China.
Gavin Rimmer was promoted to President, Africa for UTi Worldwide in March 2007. Gavin joined UTi in 2004 and performed a number of project roles, including Managing Director of Sun Couriers, a division of UTi. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1983. After completing his National Service at the Receiver of Revenue in 1987, he has held a number of leadership positions in the leisure and entertainment industry. These include a national video game business, the development and operation of the largest casino in South Africa, and the development and operation of a Southern Africa chain of hotels.
Lawrence Samuels was promoted to Executive Vice President in March 2007 and has been our Chief Financial Officer since May 2000. He was part of the executive management team that prepared our company for its initial public offering on NASDAQ in November 2000. In addition to his duties as our Chief Financial Officer, Lawrence oversees all investor relations activities, and is a member of UTi Worldwide’s Executive Board. Previously, he was Financial Director of our subsidiary, Pyramid Freight (Proprietary) Ltd. Before that, Lawrence served as the Financial Manager of Sun Couriers, an express courier operation in South Africa and another subsidiary of UTi. He also was the Financial Manager for Adfreight (Pty) Ltd., which later merged into Sun Couriers. Lawrence received a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg and is a qualified Chartered Accountant in South Africa.

Ron Glickman is UTi Worldwide’s Senior Vice President – Chief Information Officer. He joined UTi in February 2007 in the newly created position of Senior Vice President, Global Quality Processes and Integration. Since that time he has added the global information technology function to his areas of responsibility. Previously, Ron was responsible for the retail and hospitality vertical at Cognizant Technology Solutions. He has also served as Chief Information Officer at DFS Group, a global luxury retailer for travelers, where he designed and delivered a global sourcing strategy that yielded annual expense savings of 48 percent, while tripling the productivity per dollar invested in technology enabled business outcomes. Ron is the Board Chair for Camp Kesem, a non-profit, college-student run summer camp program for children whose parents have been diagnosed with cancer. Ron holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from National University and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Southern California.

Gene Ochi was promoted to Executive Vice President and President, Integrated Solutions for Strategic Clients in November 2008. He is a member of our founding shareholder management team and has served in various roles of increasing responsibilities, including as our Chief Marketing Officer. Previously, he was our Global Leader of Client Solutions Development and led our company’s focus on developing solutions for our global and strategic clients. Gene has been instrumental in the development and branding of our long-term vision of becoming a leading provider of truly global integrated logistics services. Previously, he served as Regional Vice President, Western U.S.A., of Union-Transport Corporation, one of our subsidiaries. Prior to joining UTi, Gene was Senior Vice President of Marketing at BAX Global. He also served in various executive capacities for Flying Tigers, a cargo airline, and as the Vice President of Marketing for WTC Air Freight. Gene received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Utah and his Masters of Business Administration from the University of Southern California.
John Hextall was appointed our Executive Vice President and President, Freight Forwarding in February 2008. John is part of our founding shareholder management team. He has served in various roles of increasing responsibility including as our Chief Operating Officer, Global Leader of Client Solutions and Delivery, and President of our EMENA Region responsibility for Asia Pacific and Greater China regions. From 1997 to 2000 he was Managing Director of UTi Worldwide (UK) Limited, after developing the Union-Transport N.V. subsidiary in Belgium where he served as Managing Director from 1993 to 1997. Prior to his career with UTi, John worked at BAX Global (formerly Burlington Air Express), which was acquired by Deutsche Bahn AG in 2006, Booker Group, and was a management graduate with Unilever. He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Transport, the UK Institute of Logistics, and is a Roundtable Member of the Council for Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP), USA and The Conference Board’s Global Council for Supply Chain & Logistics based in Brussels. John received a Bachelor of Science Combined Honors degree from Aston University in Birmingham, UK in Transport Planning & Operations and Computer Science.

Bill Gates is currently Executive Vice President and President, Contract Logistics and Distribution. He has dedicated his entire professional career to logistics management. Mr. Gates joined Standard Corporation in 1988 where he held positions of increasing responsibilities including General Manager, Vice President, President, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Executive Officer. Standard Corporation was acquired by UTi in 2002, and Mr. Gates was promoted to his current position in 2007. Prior to joining UTi Integrated Logistics, Mr. Gates served as General Manager of the Wal-Mart Distribution center in Laurens, South Carolina. His experience also includes service in the U.S. Marine Corps as a Logistics Officer. Mr. Gates has been an active member of the Warehousing Education and Research Council (WERC), the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (formerly Council of Logistics Management) and the International Warehouse Logistics Association (IWLA). He is also a past President of WERC. Mr. Gates received a B.S. from California Polytechnic State University and an M.S. in logistics systems management from the University of Southern California.

Jochen Freese is currently our Senior Vice President – Market Verticals and Global Marketing. He joined UTi Worldwide in July 2006 in the newly created position of Executive Vice President, Automotive, building and developing our automotive industry vertical teams. Since July 2008 he has served as Senior Vice President with extended responsibilities for the development of all market verticals. Previously, Jochen served as Representative of the German Fraunhofer Gesellschaft, a leading German organization in applied research and innovation, in Africa and in Europe where he was involved in the management and execution of applied research and consulting projects in production concepts, logistics and strategic management, mainly in the automotive and aerospace industry. He also served as the Managing Director of the Supplier Park Development Company Pty. in Pretoria, South Africa. He has held positions with the Automotive Industry Development Centre, and is a member of the German Association of Engineers (VDI). Jochen began his career in the area of productions and logistics research at the University of Braunschweig in Germany and holds an engineering degree (Dipl.-Ing.) from there.

Lance D’Amico is our Senior Vice President – Enterprise Support Services and Global General Counsel. He joined UTi Worldwide in August 2006 in the newly created position of Senior Vice President and Global General Counsel. Since that time, he has taken over responsibility for a number of our corporate support functions, including Legal, People Management, Risk Management, Indirect Procurement and Corporate Development. Roger MacFarlane became Non-Executive Chairman of UTi Worldwide in January 2009. He served as the company's Chief Executive Officer from May 2000, shortly after which he helped spearhead UTi's initial public offering in the U.S. on the NASDAQ National Market, until January 2009. Mr. McFarlane has served as a Director since our formation in 1995. One of the founders of the company, he has more than three decades of experience in the transportation and logistics industry. Previously, he held various executive positions, including Joint Chief Executive for BAX Global, a subsidiary of The Brink’s Company, a New York Stock Exchange-traded company. Prior to this, Mr. MacFarlane served as a Director and in other executive capacities, including Chief Executive Officer, for international freight forwarder WTC International N.V., listed on AMEX and based in California, before it was acquired by BAX Global in 1987. In 1976, he co-founded Rand Freight in South Africa, which acquired WTC through a reverse takeover in 1984. Mr. MacFarlane began his career in 1970 at Rennies Consolidated Holdings, the leading transportation company in South Africa at the time. He earned his B.A. and L.L.B. from the University of Cape Town.

Brian Belchers joined UTi Worldwide’s Board as a non-executive Director in March 2006. A seasoned consultant based in Northern California with more than three decades of experience working in practice management, client relationship management and project management, he served as a partner at Ernst & Young (E&Y) for 18 years from 1982 to 2000, and subsequently as Vice President of Cap Gemini, which acquired E&Y’s consulting practice in 2000. Brian’s tenure at E&Y included the supervision of many organizational units of the U.S. consulting practice, which focused on helping large and small companies manage rapid growth issues impacting corporate processes, information systems, financial controls and governance. He led projects in the U.S. and abroad for multinational corporations, including Apple Computer, BEA Systems, Hewlett Packard, Intel, Hyperion Software, KLA Tencor, Quantum, Samsung, and Sun Microsystems, among others. Previously, Brian was with Arthur Young & Co. from 1968 through 1982. Brian attended Oxford University as a Rhodes Scholar and earned his M.A. in political science and economics. He received his Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Natal and also is a Chartered Accountant.

Tiger Wessels has been a Director of UTi Worldwide since its formation in 1995. He served as Chairman of our Board of Directors from June 2008 until January 2009, having previously held the position for five years from 1999 to 2004. One of the founders of our company, he has served as Chief Executive Officer of the Africa Region. Mr. Wessels has also served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Uniserv since 1987. Previously, he served in various executive capacities for WTC International N.V. When the South African interests of WTC International N.V. were separated from its other operations in 1987, Mr. Wessels continued as the Chief Executive Officer of the South African operations until these operations were combined with Uniserv later that year. Mr. Wessels received a B.S. from the University of Natal and an M.B.A. from the University of Cape Town.
