Dow Jones Description

Quaker Fabric began operations in 1945 as a small family-owned fabric mill. Today Quaker Fabric is one of the largest producers of Jacquard upholstery fabric in the world and one of the undisputed leaders in the $2-billion-plus U.S. upholstery fabric industry. The company also produces specialty yarns, which it both uses in its fabrics and sells to other fabric manufacturers. Quaker Fabric counts among its customers virtually all of the largest furniture manufacturers in the United States. Plus, the company sells its products in more than 40 other countries throughout the world. In a typical year, over 500 furniture manufacturers around the globe buy over 40 million yards of fabric from Quaker. We have achieved tremendous growth by following a consistent strategy, which has carried us through good times and bad. Our strategy involves five key components: - Expanding the range of styles and prices in our product line. - Building a strong export program. - Increasing production capacity, improving productivity, and vertically integrating to gain a cost advantage over our competitors. - Providing superior quality and service. - Making Quaker a great place to work. Quaker is publicly traded and our stock is traded on Nasdaq, under the symbol "QFAB." You can learn more about Quaker by reading our Annual Report.
