Dr. Shubat co-founded Virage Logic in 1996 and currently serves as the company’s president and Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Prior to taking on the role of president and CEO in October 2008, Dr. Shubat served as Chief Operating Officer (COO) where he led the company’s strategic initiative to always be first-to-market with next generation products by focusing on both organic and in-organic product line expansion and operational excellence. Prior to his role as COO, Dr. Shubat served as the company’s vice president of research and development (R&D) and chief technical officer (CTO) where he was instrumental in leading the nearly 300 person technical staff to conceive, develop and deliver the highly differentiated advanced technology solutions for which Virage Logic has become known. Prior to co-founding Virage Logic in 1996, Dr. Shubat served as director of engineering at Waferscale Integration, a provider of Programmable uC peripherals (subsequently sold to ST). During his 10 year career at Waferscale Integration, he managed various groups including design, application-specific integrated circuit and high-speed memory. Dr. Shubat was elected to the Santa Clara University Industry Advisory Board in 2007. He is also a member of the IEEE and served as a committee member for the IEEE’s International Solid State Circuit Conference (ISSCC) from 2004 to 2006. He received an ISSCC special topic session award in 2005 and an ISSCC panel award in 2002. Dr. Shubat holds more than 20 patents and has contributed to more than 25 publications. He holds an executive M.B.A. from Stanford University, a B.S. and an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Toronto, Canada, and a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Santa Clara University.

David Sowards serves as Virage Logic’s Vice President of Silicon Validation where he is responsible for the silicon validation of all Virage Logic products including test chip development, test chip characterization and silicon reports. Prior to joining Virage Logic in July 2005, Sowards served as Vice President of Engineering for fabless Smart Card IC maker, Emosyn International, an SST company. Sowards joined Emosyn in 1998 where he established the design organization and developed products that grew to over 200 million units being shipped by mid 2005. Prior to Emosyn, Sowards served as Director of Engineering at Information Storage Devices (ISD), a maker of devices for the audio market that used analog level storage on conventional floating gate non-volatile technology. Prior to ISD, Sowards held various engineering and management positions at Exar, Catalyst Semiconductor, Wafer Scale Integration, Xicor, and Sperry Univac. Sowards holds a BSEE degree from the University of Utah.

William J. Palumbo has served as Vice President and General Manager of New Jersey Operations since July 1999. Before joining Virage Logic, Mr. Palumbo served as Director of the Physical Library Division for Mentor Graphics from October 1990 to July 1999. Before joining Mentor Graphics, he worked in various management positions at RCA, General Electric and Harris Semiconductor from December 1983 to September 1990. He holds one U.S. patent and has published numerous articles in technical and business forums. Mr. Palumbo holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Rutgers University.

Mr. Smith joined the board in August 2003 bringing to Virage Logic over forty years of experience in financial management with leading technology companies. From 1963 at the onset of his career at Honeywell, Inc. Smith has held a number of executive positions in operations, finance and administration with Memorex Corporation and Control Data Corporation. In 1982, Smith joined R. R. Donnelley & Sons Company (NYSE: DNY), a leading provider of financial printing and communications as executive vice president, finance and chief financial officer. Smith went on to become president of Maxwell Graphics in 1986. In 1996, Smith joined Novellus Systems, Inc., as executive vice president, finance and administration and chief financial officer. Smith also served on the board of directors of Novellus until his retirement in 2002. Since 1990, Smith has been a member of the board of directors of Cirrus Logic, Inc. (NASDAQ: CRUS), serves on the company's compensation committee, and also serves as chairman of the audit committee. In 2003, Smith joined the board of directors of PLX Technology (NASDAQ: PLXT), a provider of high-speed connectivity equipment in the semiconductor industry and Epicor Software Corporation (NASDAQ: EPIC).

George Rassam is a seasoned financial officer having played an active role with several startups in Silicon Valley as CFO and controller including Mainbrace Corporation and Virage Logic. George has operational experience in all phases of startups up to and including Initial Public Offering (IPO). Prior to startups, George served as CFO for IMP Corporation and controller at Zilog Incorporated. George Rassam serves as Director of Arset Corporation and Viasphere Corporation. Michael Hackworth is currently chairman of the board of Cirrus Logic Inc., a position he has held since July 1997. Mr. Hackworth served as president and chief executive officer from January 1985 to June 1998 and continued to serve as chief executive officer until February 1999. Mr. Hackworth currently serves as an "Advisor to Entrepreneurs" and serves on the board of Virage Logic Inc. (VIRL) and several private company boards including interim CEO roles. In 1990, he was named Semiconductor Entrepreneur of the Year by Ernst & Young, and in 2001 the Fabless Semiconductor Association presented him with the prestigious Dr. Morris Chang Exemplary Leadership Award for his visionary contributions to the fabless semiconductor industry.
