Walgreen is principally engaged in the retail drugstore business. Co.'s drugstores are engaged in the retail sale of prescription and non-prescription drugs and general merchandise. General merchandise includes, among other things, beauty care, personal care, household items, candy, photofinishing, greeting cards, seasonal items and convenience foods. Co.'s customers can have prescriptions filled at its drugstore counter, as well as through the mail, by telephone and via the Internet. Co. markets products under various trademarks, trade dress and trade names and holds assorted business licenses. As of Aug 31 2007, Co. operated retail stores at 5,997 locations in 48 states and Puerto Rico.
