Founded in 1996 with the vision "to be a national model of excellence for the provision of healthcare and wellness services," Wellmont Health System is the premier healthcare provider in Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia. The integrated healthcare delivery system is comprised of Bristol Regional Medical Center in Bristol, Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, Hawkins County Memorial Hospital in Rogersville, and Lonesome Pine Hospital in Big Stone Gap, Va. Wellmont's broad scope of services ranges from community-based acute care to highly specialized tertiary services including neonatal intensive care and two trauma centers. Complementing the services provided by each Wellmont hospitals are other facilities within the system. Wellmont Madison House, located in Kingsport, provides assisted living and a therapeutic day program for frail elderly persons and mid-life adults with a chronic illness. Medical care in the home is provided 24 hours a day, seven days a week, through Wellmont Home Care. And Wellmont Hospice House in Bristol offers care for terminally ill patients in a comfortable environment. Wellmont Wellness Center, also located in Bristol, is a 50,000-square-foot facility that offers a wide variety of aerobic and education classes utilizing the latest advances in exercise technology.
