Together, the Brothers pioneered American Style Hefeweizen beer in 1986, and Widmer Hefeweizen - America's Original Hefeweizen , has grown in popularity over the past decade. This golden, cloudy Widmer beer is kegged and bottled directly from the lagering tank and is not filtered, leaving Widmer's special yeast suspended in the beer. Widmer's Hefeweizen has been Oregon's top-selling draught craft brew for nearly 20 years. Its tempting appearance and aroma combined with its robust taste and texture have distinguished Widmer Hefeweizen as a Widmer Brothers classic. Other year-round offerings include Drop Top Amber Ale and Broken Halo IPA . Kurt & Rob were the first to introduce seasonal beers to America an idea that has spawned such favorites as Snowplow, OKTO and the popular "W" Brewmasters' Release Series. In keeping with the tradition of hand-crafted brewing, Widmer Brothers continues to develop new and unique beers. In 2002 and 2004, Widmer Brothers Brewing was named "Mid-Size Brewery of the Year" at the Great American Beer Festival, recognizing our commitment to crafting top-notch beer. Gold medals were also individually awarded to Widmer Hefeweizen, Drop Top Amber Ale and Snowplow Milk Stout. As the appreciation for high quality, fresh tasting, hand-crafted beer continues to grow, so does the availability of Widmer Brothers beers.
