ZymoGenetics Inc.

Dr. Bruce L.A. Carter was appointed as an Additional Director on the Board of the Company effective July 21, 2008. Dr. Carter is the Chairman of the Board and the Chief Executive Officer of ZymoGenetics, Inc. Seattle, Washington, USA. Dr. Carter was appointed Chairman of ZymoGenetics in April, 2008 and has been the Chief Executive Officer of ZymoGenetics, Inc. since April, 1998. He joined ZymoGenetics in 1986 first as Vice-President of Research and Development. In 1994, he was chosen as Corporate Executive Vice-President and Chief Scientific Officer for Novo Nordisk A/S, the former parent company of Zymogenetics. He was elected to the Board of ZymoGenetics in 1987 and was appointed President of the company in 1998. Dr. Carter led the negotiations that established Zymogenetics as an independent company from Novo Nordisk in 2000. Dr. carter held various positions of increasing responsibility at G.D.Searle & Co. Ltd. from 1982-1986 and was a lecturer at Trinity College, University of Dublin from 1975-1982. Dr. Carter is a B.Sc. Botany (Honors) from University of Nottingham, England, and a Ph.D. in Microbiology from Queen Elizabeth College, University of London.

Stephen W. Zaruby has served as President of ZymoGenetics since January 2, 2009. Previously Mr. Zaruby served as Vice President, Global Head, Hospital/Surgical Business Unit, Haematology/Cardiology, with Bayer HealthCare Pharmaceuticals. In that role, he was the global strategic and U.S. operational head for hospital, surgical and related specialty products. Prior to that, he served as Director, Global Strategic Marketing for Bayer HealthCare Pharmaceuticals, where he oversaw global strategic marketing and commercialization platforms for the quinolone franchise. Previously, Mr. Zaruby held several other sales, marketing and product development positions within Bayer HealthCare and its affiliates. Mr. Zaruby earned a B.S. with Honors in Cellular, Molecular, and Microbiology from the University of Calgary in Calgary, Alberta.

Douglas E. Williams, Ph.D., 50, has served as a member of our Board of Directors since April 2004. He currently serves as President of ZymoGenetics, Inc. From September 2003 to August 2004, Dr. Williams served as Seattle Genetics' Chief Scientific Officer, Executive Vice President and a member of their Board of Directors. Prior to joining Seattle Genetics, from November 2002 to August 2003, Dr. Williams was Head of Health and Strategic Development for Genesis Research & Development, a biotechnology company located in New Zealand. From July to October 2002, he served as Senior Vice President, Washington Site Leader and a member of the Executive Committee for Amgen, Inc. Dr. Williams joined Amgen in July 2002 when it acquired Immunex Corporation, where he worked for 14 years, most recently serving as Executive Vice President, Chief Technology Officer and a member of Immunex's Board of Directors. Prior to his work at Immunex, Dr. Williams served on the faculty of the Indiana University School of Medicine and the Department of Laboratory Medicine at the Roswell Park Memorial Institute. He serves on the boards of privately-held Aerovance, Inc. and of publicly traded Anadys Pharmaceuticals, Inc. and is a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of Symphony Capital. Dr. Williams holds a B.S. magna cum laude in Biological Sciences from the University of Massachusetts, Lowell and a Ph.D. in Physiology from the State University of New York at Buffalo, Roswell Park Division.

Vaughn Himes joined Seattle Genetics in April 2009, bringing more than twenty years of experience in manufacturing, technical operations, process development and scale-up activities. As Executive Vice President, Technical Operations, he oversees Seattle Genetics' manufacturing, supply chain and quality assurance and control functions. Previously, Dr. Himes was with Zymogenetics, Inc., most recently as Senior Vice President, Technical Operations where his responsibilities included commercial and clinical manufacturing, supply chain and logistics, quality control and process development. While at Zymogenetics, he oversaw the chemistry, manufacturing and control (CMC) portion of the successful Biologics License Application for Recothrom and managed its commercial supply. Previously, he held Vice President positions in manufacturing and development at Corixa, Targeted Genetics and Genovo. Dr. Himes received a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry from Pomona College in California and a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Minnesota.
